Philippians 4:6-8 and Matthew 17:20

Philippians 4:6-8 and Matthew 17:20

Don’t be anxious!! Paul of Tarsa said these words while jailed by the authority of Roman While in Rome over 2000 years ago. Paul is waiting in jail to find out about his future. We learn later his head will be cut off. Under these circumstances Paul is telling us in verse 6 of Philippians chapter 4 to not be anxious.
Paul doesn’t know I might have more month left than money to cover my bills but he does know that anxiety is the problem. (Replace your anxiety issue within this sentence).
In verse 7 Paul tells us how to over come our anxiety. Pray. Pray specifically for your requests and with thanksgiving then let the power of God which is impossible for us to understand take over with faith in the Christ Jesus which will guard your hearts and minds.
In Matthew 17:20 Jesus says we can move mountains with faith the size of a mustard seed to accomplish incredible things. Pray for what you specifically want and have faith.
In Philippians 4:8 Paul is telling us how to think. Paul is telling us to think on things that don’t cause anxiety.
How can we be anxious if we fill our minds with things that do not cause us to be anxious? The month will not suddenly become shorter because I am thinking good thoughts. However praying and thinking good thoughts will most likely lead to answers I could not see while my anxiety was tormenting me.
For all of us no matter our theology or lack there of please think on the below example to attempt to understand where Paul says that the peace of God surpasses or transcends all human understanding.
The earth is spinning at over 1,000 miles per hour while rotating at 74,000 mile per the 10,000,000 degree Sun. The pond in my front yard has little to no ripples. The ducks mindlessly forge for food and the fish below do the same. My American flag on its secure pole on my front porch is still and brilliant in the bright sun because the wind is calm and the winter sky is calm.
A 1,000 mile an hour wind would destroy the Empire State Building. It’s outer covering would be torn and blown into the distance. It’s steel frame would be bent to ground like the grasses in high winds. And you probably know 100 degrees feels hot.

Paul said the peace of God that is beyond our understanding. I do not understand why our earth is designed so perfectly that my pond is calm despite what it takes for earth to work for me and you. Therefore I will not be anxious. I will take Paul’s advice.
